Quitman Lady Bulldogs lose to Eustace

The Quitman Lady Bulldogs faced a tough challenge on Tuesday, falling 12–2 despite their efforts throughout the game.

Quitman got off to a difficult start, allowing multiple runs in the early innings that quickly put them behind. The Lady Bulldogs continued to battle, but the early deficit proved hard to overcome.

Quitman got on the board in the bottom of the first after Chloe Jones walked, stole second base, and came home courtesy of a line drive from Abby Johnson. Jones also saw action in the bottom of the second inning, when she singled to short stop, batting in Erin Boykin. Boykin had singled and advanced to third courtesy of a hit by Taylor Drinkwine.

In the circle, Chloe Jones pitched five innings for Quitman, recording three strikeouts. Despite giving up several runs, she worked on keeping base runners from stealing and kept competing each inning. The Lady Bulldogs showed defensive awareness as well, turning a double play during the game.

Although the outcome wasn’t in their favor, Quitman’s young team continued to fight and gain experience that will help them move forward. The Lady Bulldogs will look to bounce back in their matchups against Mineola.
