Quitman FFA and Young Farmers to host community auction May 8
The Quitman FFA chapter, in partnership with local Young Farmers, will host its annual auction on Friday, May 8 at the ag pavilion off FM 2088.
The evening will begin with a community dinner at 5:30 p.m. followed by the auction at 6:30.
The event is open to the public. Admission and the meal are free, though donations will be accepted. In addition to the auction, attendees can buy raffle tickets for $1 each.
The Quitman FFA Project Auction highlights the hard work and dedication of student members, showcasing a wide range of student-built items developed through hands-on agricultural education and technical training. Projects often include woodworking pieces, metalwork and other crafted items that reflect the skills students have gained in agriculture, mechanics and craftsmanship.
This year’s auction will feature a variety of items, including a 14-foot bumper pull trailer, a metal shop table, deer feeders, fire pits and numerous handcrafted wood projects. Alongside student creations, donated items from local businesses and community supporters will also be available.
Funds raised during the event directly benefit the Quitman FFA chapter, supporting student participation in leadership conferences, competitions, travel opportunities, classroom resources and future project materials.
The auction will be led by auctioneer Kelly Conley. Organizers encourage community members to attend, enjoy a meal, and support local students.
