The Quitman Bulldogs used Thursday’s 4-1 loss to Harmony as a final warm-up ahead of this week’s postseason action, competing in a contest that remained within reach through the middle innings.

Quitman held things steady early, getting solid work on the mound and defensively to keep the game scoreless through the first few frames. The Bulldogs stayed in position before a fifth-inning stretch allowed the opponent to push across the difference.

On the mound, Canin Peppers, Jonas Prather and Jimmy Mullican combined for several effective innings, limiting Harmony to four hits and keeping the game manageable.

Offensively, Quitman recorded a pair of hits from Juan Ramirez and Colton Barkdull and continued to put the ball in play, though they were unable to string together enough to shift momentum.

The game served its purpose as preparation, with the Bulldogs now turning their focus to postseason play. Quitman is set to face playoff action this week against the Tatum Eagles.

Game one is Thursday, 7 p.m. at Carthage High School, game two Friday at 7 p.m. at Lindale and if needed game three Saturday TBD at Brook Hill-Bullard.
