Prec. 2 constable resigns nine months into term
Less than a year into his term, Wood County Precinct Two Constable Bobby Tucker is stepping down.
Tucker turned in his resignation to County Judge Kevin White on Friday, effective on Friday, Oct. 10.
Tucker was elected in 2024 and started his term on Jan. 1.
In the announcement, White said Tucker is stepping down for personal reasons.
He said county commissioners will consider how to address the vacancy at their next meeting on Tuesday, Oct.14.
Tucker led the Republican primary in March 2024 in a three-way race, advancing to the runoff. Then Joshua Davis, the runner-up, bowed out. Tucker was unopposed in the general election to replace Kelly Smith, who did not seek reelection.
In his letter, Tucker said he is grateful to the people of Wood County for the opportunity to serve and appreciates the knowledge and experience that he gained.
