Man dies in early morning collision
Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Sean Waterman and Wood County Sheriff’s Deputy Brandi Cunningham examine debris on Highway 80 west at the scene of a fatal collision this morning. Emergency responders were paged out at 6:24 a.m. to the crash that involved the 18-wheeler, seen at the right in this photo, and a Dodge Ram truck. The driver of the Dodge truck was dead at the scene. Initial reports are that the 18-wheeler was turning into the driveway of West Mineola Resale Shop and swung wide into the oncoming lane and the Dodge truck collided with the back corner of the trailer. The 18-wheeler driver was from California and was uninjured. Mineola Fire and Police Departments, East Texas Medical Services EMS, Wood County Sheriff’s Department and DPS responded to the scene.
