Mineola Memorial Library Notes
Greetings to all. Congratulation to the class of 2021. Onward and upward!
A very big thank you goes to the Max and Mary Hudson Charitable Foundation for their donation to the Mineola Memorial Library. We were very honored to receive this gift and will use it for service to our community through materials and programs.
As usual, we try different things at the library. We have a collection of posters from the Smithsonian highlighting women inventors/scientists. When the weather cooperates, we have begun putting those outside along our sidewalk for your enjoyment.
The Eagle Project continues. The windows are starting to get their blue paint. Again, need the weather to cooperate. We are pleased with the color and look forward to the outcome.
Summer Reading begins June 1. This year there will not be any in-person programs at the library. However, we will still have reading logs and Grab and Go activities. This program will last six weeks and will end on July 17. We hope you enjoy.
Grab and Go activities will be separated by age – under 5, kindergarten to 5th grade, and tweens/teens. Please, just get one per person from your age container. These will be outside under the tree or on the porch, depending on the forecast.
Reading Logs. Pick up a reading log and keep track of which days you read. It would be nice if you read at least 20 minutes a day, but we’ll be happy if you just read something daily. Check off the date you read. Bring in your reading log when the week ends and get a brag tag to celebrate your accomplishment.
Summer Pop Up Programs. We will be taking the bookmobile on the road to offer pop up programs on Saturdays. You must watch Facebook to find out where we are going and when we will be there. The information will pop up the morning of the event.
East Texas Day of Giving was a success for our library as a first time participant. We thank all who donated on line and in-person to this program. We will be participating next year April 26, 2022.
