We had a terrific time in Minneapolis at the Public Library Association’s annual convention. Lots of public libraries of all sizes from all across the country were there. It involved great sessions, interesting vendors and lots of walking. If you’ve never been to Minneapolis, you should try to visit at least once. Many thanks to our staff for keeping the library open and to our board members for making sure staff could get out for a minute to eat lunch.

East Texas Giving Day is on Tuesday, April 28. It is a day to give to area nonprofits online, and you can donate to more than one entity. Simply log onto the East Texas Giving Day website and choose the nonprofits you wish to support, make your donation, decide if you want to absorb the cost of processing, and check out. Please support the Mineola Memorial Library, which is a 501(c)3 nonprofit and is not supported by tax dollars. Your generous monetary donations are always greatly appreciated.

A fundraiser for the Mineola Memorial Library will also take place on Tuesday, April 28 at 7 p.m. in the Historic Select Theater at 114 N. Johnson in Mineola. The theater will be showing Alfred Hitchcock’s movie “Rebecca.” Make a cash donation to the Mineola Memorial Library, and these funds will be used to purchase VOX books (a book with the audio built into it for emerging readers); then purchase concession items to support the theater, another local nonprofit. It’s a winning combination: watch a great movie, support the theater, and support the Mineola Memorial Library.

The Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, and your donations may be tax-deductible.
