The holidays are upon us. Can you believe it? We have many books with delicious recipes, craft ideas and seasonally themed stories. Come check out what we have.

Mineola Memorial Library will be downtown as part of the annual trick or treat festivities. You can find us in front of the Select Theater. We hope to see you there.

November is coming up fast and we will host Read to a Dog on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 9 a.m. We have dogs and their trainers from Alliance of Therapy Dogs: Therapy Dogs of East Texas. We have hosted this twice and have really enjoyed the dogs and their trainers and the children seem to have enjoyed the dogs as well.

In November we will continue Toddler Story Time on Tuesday mornings at 9. If you cannot make this activity with your 18-month to 3-year old, try our Toddler 2 x 2 on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. This program helps the children make friends, learn to play together, parents get to meet other parents and visit while playing with their child, and then there’s always a story.

Youth Advisory Committee will meet Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 4 p.m. If you are a tween or teen, contact Mrs. Pam at the library (903-569-2767) and learn about this group that helps youth meet each other, learn about the library and ways to volunteer.

Wednesday is Preschool Story Time at 10 a.m. for the 3-5 year old crowd and their caregiver/parent. This is more structured as they learn to sit and listen to stories and then complete an activity related to the stories. Preschool will not meet on Wednesday, Nov. 26 as the library will be closed.

Friday, Nov. 7 and Friday, Nov. 21 brings us Homeschool Heroes at 10 a.m. This is an opportunity for home-school families to meet other families, network and complete an activity. The theme for Nov. 7 is Hug a Bear and Nov. 21 is Thankful.

Friday, Nov. 14 at 10 a.m. is our book club: Generally Speaking. Our theme this month is gratitude. Read any book about gratitude (fiction or non-fiction) and we’ll discuss our selections and why we chose them or liked them or why we recommend them. This book club allows you to read any book you choose within a theme.

Early notice: the Mineola Memorial Library will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 26 and Thursday, Nov. 27 so our staff may spend time with family and friends.

Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3, non-profit and donations may be tax-deductible. The library has received memorial donations for George Wilson from Jammie Kirchner and from Greg and Carol Hollen and Susan Few. We could not do what we do without community support.
