Mineola falls in district tiebreaker
Caleb Gant gets the put out at first base for Mineola in Friday’s district seeding baseball game with Mt. Vernon. The two teams ended the regular season tied for second with 9-3 records. The Jackets got off to a rough start, yielding five runs in the first inning and two more in the second as Mt. Vernon took a 10-0 victory in five innings. As a result the Yellowjackets enter the state playoffs as the third-place team and will face New Boston in a three-game series, which gets under way on Friday in Marshall, with two games starting at 5 p.m. If a third game is necessary it will be played Saturday at 1 p.m. at Paris Chisum.
