Mineola council sets date to OK budget, closes street
Mineola City Council held a brief public hearing Monday on the proposed 2024-25 city budget, then scheduled another meeting Sept. 16 to consider adopting that budget.
The council also approved closing Commerce St. from Hwy. 69 to Line St. on Tuesday, Sept. 17 beginning at noon.
The Union Pacific Big Boy steam locomotive is scheduled to come through Mineola that day sometime after 2 p.m. A large gathering of former railroad workers is planned to greet the world’s largest steam engine as it passes by following a stop in Big Sandy.
