Local artists celebrate western heritage at 5th Annual ‘Cowboy Tales’ Exhibit

Despite the welcome rainy weather, Western-themed art lovers and artists gathered Oct. 1 at the Winnsboro Center for the Arts for an artist reception celebrating the fifth annual Cowboy Tales art exhibition.
Located in the heart of the historic Bowery district, the center welcomed community members, art enthusiasts and artists to view this year’s collection, which captures elements of ranch life, frontier history and Western culture. The juried exhibition features 90 entries submitted by 40 regional artists.
Taking home the Best of Show honor this year was artist Donna Paige. Her mixed-media piece, “Bandelero Canyon,” earned the top recognition among the works on display.
The Cowboy Tales exhibit is part of Winnsboro’s autumn cultural season, which also includes the Cowboy Poetry and Music Festival and upcoming Autumn Trails events. Autumn Trails activities kick off Saturday, Oct. 3, with a tractor pull, 5K and .05K fun run and the Little Miss and Miss Autumn Trails Pageant.
The Cowboy Tales exhibit will remain on display through Nov. 14.
The public may view the exhibition during the Winnsboro Center for the Arts’ regular gallery hours, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. The center is located at 200 Market St. in downtown Winnsboro. Admission to the gallery is free.
