Lady Bulldogs sweep Commerce, Rains as playoff race continues
The Quitman Lady Bulldogs picked up two district wins last week, sweeping Commerce and Rains as the regular season nears its end.
Quitman opened the week Tuesday, Oct. 13, with a three-set victory over Commerce, winning 28-26, 25-23 and 25-20.
The victory avenged an earlier district loss to the Lady Tigers, who defeated Quitman in four sets Sept. 18. The Lady Bulldogs returned home Friday, Oct. 16, and defeated Rains in straight sets, 25-23, 25-12 and 25-23.
Quitman won two close sets against Rains, with a 25-12 victory in the second set providing the largest margin of the match. The two wins improved Quitman’s overall record to 17-18, according to MaxPreps.
The Lady Bulldogs have now won six of their last seven matches. With the district schedule winding down, Quitman will travel to Prairiland Friday, Oct. 23, for its final scheduled district match.
The Lady Bulldogs will look to finish the regular season with another win as they compete for a spot in the Class 3A playoffs.
