Juneteenth celebration set June 17 in Mineola

Food, fun, fellowship, music and games will mark the celebration of Juneteenth in Mineola on Saturday, June 17.

The free festivities will be held at the McFarland school campus at 708 Stone St. from noon to 5 p.m.

Now a national holiday, Juneteenth marks the day of the order announcing the end of slavery in Texas, June 19, 1865 at the end of the Civil War.

Special Olympics returns in style
