House fires in Mineola, Hawkins result in no human casualties
A house fire at 900 Kings Lane in Mineola Tuesday, March 10 resulted in a total property loss; however, resident and property owner Allen Glenny was physically unharmed.
Mineola Fire Marshal David Madsen said that Glenny was made aware of the fire when one of his smoke alarms went off. According to fire department reports, seven fire truck units comprising 15 personnel fought the fire for nearly six-and-a-half hours. Assisting agencies included the volunteer fire departments from Grand Saline, Alba and Quitman, as well as UT Health EMS and the Mineola Police Department.
Madsen said that it is currently unclear how the fire started, and that since “everything on the ground floor is now in the basement…and it was a deep basement,” investigators may not be able to safely peruse the property.
The fire resulted in the loss of a pet, a dog named Ruby.
Also on March 10, the Hawkins Fire Dept. faced a fully engulfed structure fire – a house fire that also resulted in a total loss. According to Holly Lake Ranch Volunteer Fire Department Chief Joe Taylor, “everyone self-evacuated from the home successfully.” There were no injuries. The home was located at 803 PR 7850.
The fire was assisted by several agencies, including the Mineola Fire Dept., the Holly Lake Ranch Volunteer Fire Dept., the Hainesville Volunteer Fire Dept., the Pleasant Grove Volunteer Fire Dept. and the Big Sandy Volunteer Fire Dept.
