Mary Ballard, 92, attends the alumni volleyball game Saturday, Aug. 8, at Delbert Ballard Gymnasium. Ballard said she has attended games in the gym since she was about 25 years old. Completed in 1958, the gym is named for her late husband, Delbert Ballard, who coached the first game played there. Ballard watched her daughter, Chrystal Ballard, an alumni volleyball coach, and granddaughter, Ashlee Lingo, an alumni player. Both Chrystal Ballard and Lingo teach for Quitman ISD.
