Wood County voters agreed with state and district results, giving State Rep. Cole Hefner a big win over Dewey Collier.

Statewide GOP races heading for runoffs include John Cornyn and Ken Paxton for the U.S. Senate Republican nod and Mayes Middleton and Chip Roy to replace Paxton as attorney general.

Jace Yarbrough's bid to win the Republican nomination for the 32nd Congressional District was flirting with the 50% mark to avoid a runoff in a nine-way race. Ryan Brinkley would also make the runoff if Yarbrough fails below 50%.

Don Huffines appeared to avoid a runoff for state comptroller in a four-way race.

Bo French and Jim Wright were runoff bound for a state railroad commission seat.

Nate Sheets' bid to oust incumbent Texas  commissioner Sid Miller appeared to be a success, though Miller carried Wood County.

Kason Huddleston appeared on his way to representing Wood County on the State Board of Education without a runoff.

On the Democratic side, James Talarico held a narrow lead over Jasmine Crockett to face Cornyn or Paxton in the general election, with just over half the state's precincts yet to report.

UPDATE:

With all the votes in Wood County Prec. Two counted, Justice of the Peace Janae Holland has earned reelection with more than 71% of the votes for the Republican nomination and has no Democratic opposition in November.

For the unexpired term as Prec. Two constable, appointee Jeremy Ragsdale received 1,124 votes to 1,105 for Scott Melvin.

With several precincts still to report, Angela Albers holds a 14-point lead for reelection as district attorney over Sarah Bailey King, while Matthew Prather holds a six-point lead over Kari Perkins to be the new county treasurer.

In a three-way race for Prec. Three justice of the peace, Jerry Parker holds just over 50% of the votes for reelection, which would avoid a runoff.
