Judd Paul Pippins of Sulphur Springs pleaded guilty to two drug charges in 402nd District Court Thursday, April 10 and was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

He was charged with the first-degree felonies of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance penalty group 1, four grams or more but less than 200 grams, and manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, penalty group 3, 28 grams or more but less than 200 grams.

He was also fined $5,000 and acknowledged his guilt for the offenses of delivery of marijuana more than 1/4 ounces but less than or equal to 5 pounds, criminal trespass, and theft of property $100 or more but less than $750.

Sgt. Andre Thompson with the Mineola Police Department was on patrol when he observed Pippins operating a motor vehicle and was aware that Pippins had an active warrant.

Thompson arrested Pippins for active warrant and searched Pippin’s vehicle, locating over six grams of methamphetamine, 90 hydrocodone pills, over an ounce of marijuana, 15 small clear baggies and 10 unused syringes.

Wood County District Attorney Angela Albers said, “The defendant has a significant history involving drug dealing. Yet again he was trying to circulate drugs in Wood County, putting our community at risk.”
