Winnsboro’s Cultural Arts District welcomed the reopening of the Culture Club Art Gallery on Saturday, Oct. 10. Located at 107 Elm St., on the north side of the Bowery entertainment and shopping area, the newly renovated 8,000-square-foot brick building drew a crowd of art and music enthusiasts for the celebration.
Visitors gathered around the performance stage for a free concert by North Texas entertainer Keith Owens.
Originally established in 2018 by Vic and Kelly Clark, the gallery has expanded through a collaboration with local artist Chris Brown. As part of the expansion, Brown’s Modern Country gallery assets have been incorporated into the Culture Club Art Gallery.
“The Clarks and I are excited to join forces to create a joyful creative space where you may come and experience the history of Winnsboro, incredible art, live music, art lessons and workshops, art exhibits, storytelling and puppet shows for the kids, and even Bingo nights,” Brown said.
Owens performed an acoustic concert for the reopening crowd. The gallery’s updated layout includes tables and chairs around the stage to accommodate live entertainment, along with large conference tables for group meetings and training sessions.
Visitors can browse a variety of artwork, purchase commissioned pieces and visit “The Art of Chris Brown” working studio to watch the artist at work. Brown also offers on-site tours of the Clarks’ fine arts gallery, which features pieces from their private collection.
The gallery plans to offer activities for all ages, including art lessons, private events, workshops and other community gatherings.
The Culture Club Art Gallery is open Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
