Commissioners designate county airport reinvestment zone
Following a brief public hearing Tuesday, Wood County commissioners officially designated the Wood County airport as a reinvestment zone.
Christine Thomas, executive director of the Wood County Economic Development Commission, explained that the designation will assist the commission in attracting aviation-related businesses to the airport through offering incentives.
The airport runway has recently been expanded to 5,000 feet, which will allow its use by corporate jets and is expected to generate much interest.
Commissioners also approved an agreement with TG Mullins Consulting to assist the economic development commission with the reinvestment zone. Tom Mullins has experience consulting with several entities in Wood County.
The contract is for up to 30 hours at $200 per hour for the coming year.
