Busy weekend of Christmas events set in Mineola

The Mineola Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its annual lighted Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 6.  

The theme is Home for the Holidays.

There will be a small Christmas Market on S. Johnson Street starting at 4:30 p.m. with the parade beginning around 5:30 p.m. After the parade wraps up, Santa Claus will head over to the downtown gazebo for families to take pictures. 

The street closures will start at 2 p.m. on N. Johnson St. from Broad St. to the alley and 3:30 p.m. on S. Johnson and Commerce Streets from Pacific to Line Street.

The annual Main Street Window Decorating Contest will be judged on Thursday, Dec. 4. 

Magical Mineola, hosted by the city, is Friday, Dec. 5.  The fun includes two snow hills, reindeer, mini-train rides, pony rides, a Christmas maze, snow, ham radio contact with Santa, Santa letter writing, entertainment and the community tree lighting.

The Landmark Commission is hosting its Tour of Homes on Sunday, Dec. 7 from 1-5 p.m. with four homes, including the Victorian house at 701 N. Johnson St. among those on the tour. Others are 914 N. Johnson, 908 Sycamore and 909 Sycamore.

Tickets are $20.

The Mineola League of the Arts will host its annual holiday bazaar Thursday, Dec. 4 from 5-8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 5 from 10-4 and Saturday, Dec. 6 from 10-3.
