Autumn Trails brings food and fun to Winnsboro

Winnsboro City Park was busy Saturday, Oct. 10, as the community gathered for another in a series of Autumn Trails events.
The morning featured activities for families, including bounce houses, a climbing wall, lawn games, face painting and cotton candy for children.
As the children played, teams competed in a stew contest, with some beginning preparations as early as 4 a.m. Competitors cooked their recipes in large cast-iron pots.
Among the competitors were J&M Printing and Signs, which prepared a chicken stew, and the Winnsboro Police Department, which served beef stew.
The competition continued inside the nearby civic center auditorium with pie and cake contests. Autumn Trails royalty, including local queens and princesses, attended the event and greeted visitors.
First-place winners in the baking contests included:
• Nut pie: Bandi Morris, “Texas Trash” pie.
• Cream pie: Dianne Henry, Biscoff pie.
• Fruit pie: Mona Crawford.
• Cake: Denise Wilkins.
• Youth division: Jemma Hawkins and Jenna Anderson, maple mousse cheesecake.
The day’s activities concluded with an evening concert by Jason Waldon and the Alibis featuring Brian Chance at the Jack Cross Pavilion. Attendees enjoyed the music and mild weather from VIP seating and lawn chairs.
