Annual kid fishing event June 3 at Lake Fork

The annual Kid Fish sponsored by the Wood County Sheriff’s Dept., Sabine River Authority and Texas Parks and Wildlife is Saturday, June 3 at the SRA headquarters on FM 288 between Hwy. 154 and Hwy. 182.

The free fishing event for youngsters 16 or under starts at 8 a.m. A meal will be provided during the event.

Contestants must be registered by 8 a.m. Final weigh-in is at noon.

It is catch and release, and participants are encouraged to bring cameras to record their catches.

Children under 7 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Parental involvement is encouraged but not required.

Contestants should bring a rod-and-reel, but one can be provided. All fish must be caught on a rod-and-reel.

Fish limits and lengths will be explained at the event.

Prizes will be awarded in several categories and age groups.
