Albers seeks reelection
District Attorney Angela Albers has announced her intention to seek reelection beginning in the March 2026 Republican primary.
Albers has served as Wood County DA since being first appointed by Gov. Abbott in 2019 and then winning election in 2020 and 2022. She previously served as an assistant DA and has been a prosecutor for 25 years.
“My office has been dedicated to seeking justice, keeping our community safe and making sure that Wood County stays a safe place to live, work and raise a family,” she said.
In 2024 the office prosecuted more than 800 misdemeanor and felony cases. Since she became DA, more than 600 defendants have received jail or prison time.
Some notable cases through trials or guilty pleas include a life sentence and a 30-year sentence for sexual abuse of a child, 40- and 35-year sentences for assault of a police officer and 40- and 25-year sentences for drug convictions.
The office has also held fundraisers to benefit the Wood County Child Welfare Board and the East Texas Crisis Center. The First Responders Softball Tournament in its sixth year has assisted a different charity each year.
“I look forward to the opportunity to continue to serve as the Criminal District Attorney,” she said. “I will continue to ensure that my office pursues justice every day and keeps criminals off the streets.”
