Alba-Golden ISD voters reject $20.6 million bond proposition
Voters voiced their opinions at the polls last Saturday, deciding on several hotly contested races.
Among the most contested propositions was Alba-Golden ISD’s proposition for a $20.6 million bond proposition that would have funded a new Career and Technology Education facility and a new district gymnasium. AG-ISD Superintendent Dr. Shelby Davidson shared a letter to the Alba-Golden community after the proposition failed stating that while it was not approved “we are deeply grateful for the time, consideration, and engagement shown throughout the process.” Superintendent Davidson also stated that “While today’s outcome was not what we had hoped for, our commitment to our students remains unchanged. We will continue to listen to our community, prioritize our facility needs, and plan for the future. We respect the voice of our voters and appreciate the trust placed in Alba-Golden ISD, each and every day.”
The mayoral race in Hawkins was close with Kayla Ross edging out Susan Hubbard by seven votes. Another close decision was Ramey Utility District’s proposition to become a Special Utility District (SUD) passed by only one vote.
