Alba-Golden was also the highest-rated district in Wood County for the second consecutive year.
Alba-Golden Secondary earned an A rating after a 15-point increase and received an A for the second year in a row. Alba-Golden Elementary received a C rating and earned a Distinction Designation in Science for the second consecutive year.
The district also reported increases in student achievement, with Approaches increasing two points, Meets increasing 10 points and Masters increasing six points.
Trustees approved the district’s 2026-27 budget and adopted a tax rate of $0.7547 per $100 of taxable property value, down from the previous rate of $0.7803.
Enrollment was reported at 407 students at the secondary campus and 363 at the elementary campus.
Trustees also received updates on changes to athletic participation. Sixth-grade students are now eligible to participate in district athletics, including football, basketball and track.
The district has accepted three homeschool students to participate in athletics. Homeschool students must meet the same enrollment, eligibility and grade requirements and attend athletics during the school day.
The district also discussed heat safety procedures for outdoor athletics. When wet-bulb readings rise above 90, practices are modified to limit athletes to shoulder pads, shorts and T-shirts. Practices are canceled when the reading reaches 92.
The board approved an amendment to the superintendent’s contract regarding compensation, with one trustee opposed.
Trustees also approved the 2026-27 T-TESS appraisers, property and casualty insurance renewal and budget amendments.
