Alba council approves 80-cent trash cost hike
Alba residents will pay $13.50 per month for trash service, an increase of 80 cents.
The new rate was approved last week by the city council, which also finalized the city’s contract with new trash vendor Ameri-tex Services.
The property tax rate was set at $1.0195 per $100 valuation as announced, an increase of 4.35 cents from $.976.
The council set another work session on the proposed 2021-22 budget for Sept. 16 at 6 p.m., with plans to finalize the budget and adopt it after the workshop.
The council reviewed bids presented by Police Chief Juan Ramirez for repeaters for the three patrol units for just under $20,000 and asked the chief to seek two more bids.
He also presented bids for a new patrol unit ranging from $48,000 to $55,000.
It was announced that the Alba Economic Development Corp. and the events committee will consider canceling the Alba Fall Fest due to the increasing spread of COVID-19.
The decision is planned for the Sept. 20 meeting.
