A-GHS Panthers come up short vs. Como-Pickton
The Alba-Golden Panthers fell to Como-Pickton Friday evening 2-0 to end the regular baseball season.
The Panthers are still playoff bound while the Eagles ended the district campaign without a loss and head to the playoffs as a number one seed.
Alba-Golden takes on Linden Kildare in a three-game series, starting Friday in Gladewater at 4:30 p.m. Game two will follow 30 minutes after game one. If a third game is needed it will be played Saturday in Gladewater at 3 p.m.
An error and a pair of singles in the fifth inning gave the Eagles all the runs they needed.
The Panthers’ Landon Green and Eagle pitcher Dalton Morgan hooked up in a great pitchers duel. Green lasted until the sixth inning when Boedy Baker came on in relief and completely shut down the Eagles. Baker struck out five batters.
Morgan was solid for seven innings, allowing just a pair of hits while striking out 11 Panthers and walking none.
The Eagles also were perfect on defense with no errors. The Panthers had two errors.
