First responders honored, thanked
The Mineola Police Department received a gesture of thanks last Thursday morning as the Yellowjacket varsity football team prepared breakfast at the station for members of the force. The team used the meal as a symbolic moment to recognize our local first responders.
“We decided there is no better way to recognize our first responders than to provide service to those who serve us every day,” commented Mineola Head Coach Luke Blackwell. The first-time event was enthusiastically received by the force. “We were really excited to have the football team here this morning,” explained Captain Dusty Cook. “We knew Coach Blackwell was coming by, but we very surprised to have the varsity team along with him. It was very much appreciated,” he continued.
First responders were also recognized at Friday’s gridiron match with West Rusk at Meredith Memorial Stadium.
