Exciting times for Mineola DAR Chapter

The Saturday, Aug. 27 luncheon proved to be very exciting for the Elizabeth Denton English chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. With 35 members and eight visitors in attendance, the chapter installed a new member, voted five new members into membership and hosted special guests from nearby DAR and SAR chapters.

With her application recently approved by NSDAR, Tiffany Smith took oath as the newest member of the Elizabeth Denton English chapter.  There are now 72 active members and five prospective members.

Special guests, who presented a flag program, were Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Lee and their two sons, Britton and Matthew, and Rev. Don Majors. Anna Lee is an honorary regent of the Mary Tyler Chapter DAR where she served in many capacities. She is the national vice chairman of the NSDAR Credentials Committee and is the district VI chairman of the TXDAR/SAR (Sons of the American Revolution) Liaison Committee. Stephen Lee is the past-president of the Captain William Barron Chapter SAR, District 10 Vice President and National SAR Videographer.

Their sons are members and serve the Captain Barron Chapter of SAR and the Color Guard.

Reverend Don Majors is an ordained minister and pastor of the First Assembly of God Church in Hawkins.  He serves as chaplain and active member of the Captain William Barron Chapter SAR, the Captain James P. Douglas Camp, Sons of the Confederate Veterans and the Colonel Hubbard Chapter of the Military Order of the Stars and Bars.

The Elizabeth Denton English Chapter is chartered in Mineola but members are welcome from all areas. Any woman is eligible for membership if she is at least 18 years old and can prove lineal bloodline descent from a man or woman who aided the cause of American Independence.
