Wood County Sheriff’s Report
April 9
Deputy Beck, assault, Private Road 7906; caller and husband got into argument, she was assaulted, advised she would like to press charges, offense report completed.
Deputy Whisenhunt, theft, Private Road 7839; someone stole flower pots form residence during the night, caller wished to have incident documented.
Deputy Hammond, fraud; in the last month, victim has had two fraudulent charges, has changed all account info, contacted appropriate agencies.
April 10
Deputies, theft in progress, CR 3298; someone was attempting to leave caller’s residence on his side by side. When caller observed firearm on suspect, he opened fire, victim returned fire, neither party was injured. Deputies located both suspects, placed in custody. Rickey Walker arrested for aggravated robbery, unlawful possession of firearm by felon and theft of firearm. Christopher Miles arrested for aggravated robbery, two active felony warrants.
Deputy McGee, theft; victim’s wife’s firearm stolen out of vehicle, entered as stolen, offense report completed.
Deputy Beck, disturbance; disturbance started over victim revving his engine, causing suspect’s horses to become spooked, suspect chased down victim, struck him with vehicle. Chad Dorner arrested for aggravated assault with deadly weapon.
April 11
Sgt. Burdick, Deputy Haney, disturbance, Hwy. 37; caller’s roommate was destroying residence, deputies spoke with both parties who advised they would separate.
Sgt. Burdick, Deputy Williams, located narcotics, FM 312; caller’s father passed away, she located narcotics inside his residence, deputies collected narcotics, removed from the residence.
Sgt. Burdick, criminal mischief, CR 2150; vehicle went into multiple pastures, caused damage, deputy observed suspect vehicle, initiated traffic stop. Christopher Sims arrested for DWI.
April 12
Sgt. Cox, Deputy Way, EMS assist; EMS advised they were en route to call where tree branch fell on two subjects. Deputies assisted, subjects transported by EMS.
Deputy Williams, Deputy Haney, welfare check, CR 2110; caller and boyfriend got into argument, he punched window, cutting his hand, deputies spoke with both parties, no offense occurred.
Sgt. Burdick, traffic stop, Hwy. 37; Carl Pendergrass, arrested on active warrant, unlawful carrying of weapon.
April 13
Deputy Haney, suspicious vehicle, CR 2610; vehicle blocking roadway, deputies unable to contact vehicle owner, vehicle towed from roadway.
Sgt. Cox, Deputy Way, extra patrol, FM 17; male released from jail, when he returned home, neighbors would not let him access property, parties informed of the eviction process.
Sgt. Burdick, Deputy Williams, disturbance, FM 312; parties advised they were in verbal altercation that never became physical.
April 14
Deputy Whisenhunt, welfare check, FM 17; caller advised subject to be checked on is driver of bus who had malnourished subjects, deputies searched area, did not locate anyone.
Deputy Tustin, criminal trespass, CR 3470; caller advised subject on property cutting down trees without permission, subject working for company to clean off power lines.
Deputy Gloar, welfare check, Private Road 7533; 911 call from female stating son told her to call due to mental crisis, deputies spoke with subject, transported by EMS to receive treatment.
April 15
Deputy Skinner, suspicious circumstance by phone; while at work the day prior, someone put narcotics in caller’s lunch box, Hopkins County had already removed narcotics.
Deputy Beck, disturbance, CR 3234; caller’s grandkids called her stating their mother had assaulted them, deputies spoke with mother and kids, mother advised son assaulted her, son stated mother was choking her child, he jumped in to stop her. Deputies observed red marks around child’s throat. Chrystal Hobbs arrested for assault-impeding breathing.
