March 18

Deputy Jonah Croney was dispatched to CR 1343 for a burglary. The reporting party stated they had gone to feed cows when they noticed a trailer had been broken into. All the windows were busted out along with mirrors inside the residence. The case has been forwarded to the criminal investigation division (CID).

Sgt. Jeremy Smith noticed a vehicle pull up to a gas station. The vehicle and driver were passed on to Sgt. Smith from the previous shift as a possible stolen vehicle. Shayne Lynn Joeckle, 39, of Saginaw, was arrested for unauthorized use of a vehicle.

Deputy Bonnie Sepulvado met with individuals at the sheriff’s office lobby, who reported while working on a job site on CR 2610, a neighbor came onto the property. He attempted to hit one of the workers, who ducked out of the way. The neighbor pulled a gun on the worker, who left the location. A criminal trespass warning was issued.

Deputy Jon Ritterbach went to the Alba-Golden High School. The school reported a student had been caught with a vape pen with suspected THC. Further investigation is being done.

Deputy Ritterbach and Sgt. Smith responded to PR 7433 for a disturbance. They learned two women had been in a physical altercation. Krista Rae Thomas, 29, of Hawkins was arrested for assault causes bodily injury.

March 19

Deputy Allison took a phone report of someone stating their identity was used to get electricity. A report was forwarded to CID for further investigation.

Deputy Amanda Dollison took a report of indecency with a child by contact. The child made an outcry to school personnel. The case will be followed up on by investigators.

Deputy Jaclyn Skinner was dispatched to FM 2869 in reference to a suicidal subject. A female subject attempted to overdose. She was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Deputy David Tipps made a traffic stop on FM 2869. The driver was extremely nervous and hesitant with the deputy. When asked for consent, she denied, and canine was dispatched. The dog alerted on the passenger door. A glass smoking pipe containing methamphetamine was located. The driver also had methamphetamine in her bra. Also located in the vehicle were syringes, two loose unidentified pills, multiple clear plastic baggies and one baggie with methamphetamine residue. Karen Jan Charlton, 54, of Quitman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance PG 1, more than one gram and less than four grams.

March 20

Deputy John Cooper responded to CR 2660 for a disturbance. Deputy McKenzie Chandler arrived on scene as well. They learned a man was upset due to medical reasons. The female on the scene advised he was acting erratic. After spending some time there, it was agreed that the man would go to the doctor on Monday for help.

Deputy Andrew Morrison was dispatched to CR 2445 for a verbal dispute. While enroute, the reporting party left the location to avoid further conflict. When Deputy Morrison arrived at the new location of FM 49, he spoke with two individuals who advised they were in a verbal altercation. During the altercation, the female became violent, hitting the man several times. Yolanda Santiago Vigueras, 41, of Mineola was arrested for assault causes bodily injury – family violence.

Deputy Chandler arrived on PR 6685 regarding a subject violating a protective order. David Jerry Stuchly, 55, of Hawkins was arrested for violation of emergency protective order.

March 21

Deputy Linda Williams was dispatched to CR 1678 for a suspicious circumstance. The reporting party advised when he returned home from work, he noticed two vehicles had been vandalized. A report was forwarded to investigators.

Deputy Chandler responded to CR 4575 for a welfare check. A juvenile was picked up from the side of the road and taken back to his residence by a passerby. While on the way back to his house, the juvenile made several statements to the driver, causing concern. The deputy went to the juvenile’s house and spoke to the juvenile and another individual. The individual allowed Chandler to view the living area of the juvenile, and Chandler located a glass pipe used for smoking marijuana. The father placed the pipe on the hood of the patrol car, as requested by Chandler. The juvenile subject went to the hospital to be checked out, and while Chandler wasn’t looking, the individual threw the glass pipe on the ground. Joshua Arnold Orr, 37, of Newsome was arrested for tampering with evidence.

Deputy Chandler responded to CR 2754 for a theft. The reporting party only wanted to make a report of the thefts.

March 22

Sgt. Smith was dispatched to CR 2260 for a possible theft. He made contact with a couple who stated she had some jewelry missing. She was able to describe the jewelry and gave possible suspects in the case. The case will be forwarded to CID.

Deputy Andrew Rapp responded to PR 6282 for a theft. The reporting party stated her landlord kicked her out of her residence and became aggressive toward her. She left the residence in order to protect herself,but was not able to get all of her belongings. When she returned to retrieve her property, it was gone. A report was forwarded to CID.

March 23

Deputies Dustin Green and Jaclyn Skinner were dispatched to PR 8692 for a welfare concern. A five-year old child was in the roadway. When deputies made contact with the child, two more small children ran down the road toward them. Deputies made contact with the children’s mother, who stated she had laid down to rest her eyes while her son was to watch the rest of the children. Another young child was brought back to the residence by a neighbor, who advised the child walked to her house. CPS was notified and the case is being forwarded to CID.

Deputy Croney made contact with a person on Sells St. to take a report of criminal mischief. The reporting party was the owner of a residence he rents to another party. That party stated while she was at work, someone entered her residence and damaged numerous things using a machete. A criminal trespass warning was issued, and the case will be forwarded for further investigation.

Deputy David Tipps responded to a disturbance on E. US Hwy. 80. When they arrived, a juvenile and her father reported to have been in a verbal altercation. In further investigation, it was found that the juvenile had been touched inappropriately in the past and was having problems with that. A report was filed and will be submitted to CID.

March 24

Sgt. Brown and Deputy Hanner responded to a disturbance. They arrested John Collins for the following: assault causing bodily injury/family violence, $10,000 bond; unlawful restraint, $10,000 bond; resisting arrest/detention, $10,000 bond; aggravated assault on a public servant, $50,000 bond

Collins was transported to the Wood County Justice Center. The deputy reported injuries and was treated and released for follow up.

March 25

Deputy Chandler conducted a traffic stop north of Quitman. During the course of his investigation, canine Major was deployed and conducted an open-air sniff around the vehicle and alerted on the presence of narcotics. Antonio Berry of Quitman was arrested for the following charges: tamper/fabricate physical evidence released on $20,000 bond; manufacture/deliver controlled substance PG 1 >=4G<200G, released on $30,000 bond; unlawful carrying of a weapon, released on $5,000 bond; possession of marijuana, released on $1,000 bond.
