Wood County Sheriff’s Department reports for the past week included:

May 9 - Deputies were dispatched to Highway 182 in Quitman, at approximately 3:30 p.m. on a possibly burglary. A shed beside the reporting party’s house had been broke into, and several items were stolen. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

There were reports of cows out 8:32 a.m. on County Road 2140 in Quitman, at 9:36 a.m. CR 2345, at 10:35 a.m. on CR 4586 and at 9:07 p.m. just South of Farm-to-Market 69.

May 8 - Deputies were dispatched at approximately 11 a.m. to CR 1605 in Alba, in reference to a deceased person. A man, 71, was found deceased in his residence. An autopsy was ordered by the justice of the peace.

A deputy conducted a traffic stop on CR 3840 in Hawkins, at approximately 10:03 p.m. The vehicle was found to be stolen, and multiple drug-related items were confiscated. The deputy arrested Samuel Bledsoe, 31, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, was arrested for manufacture / delivery of a controlled substance.

May 7 -Deputies were dispatched at approximately 9:39 p.m. to Private Road 6307 on suspicious activity. They arrested Mark Alan Biggs, 57, of Arlington, who they reported was uncooperative, for failure to identify and refusing to provide identification.

May 6 – A person reported an assault at approximately 4:28 p.m. that occurred on FM 852. The reporting party was assaulted during a verbal altercation. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched at approximately 6:30 p.m. to the Highway 154 boat ramp on a report of a theft. Multiple items were stolen from several victims out of one vehicle. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched at approximately 8 p.m. to Highway 515 East in Yantis, on a report of a burglary. Cash and a laptop were stolen from the reporting party’s vehicle. This case has been forwarded to investigation.

Deputies were dispatched at approximately 10:08 p.m. to CR 2275, in reference to a hit-and-run. A deputy made contact with the suspect. Kyle Sparks, 26, of Mineola, was placed under arrest for leaving the scene of an accident involving damage.

Deputies were dispatched at approximately 10:45 p.m. to CR 1987 in Yantis. A man, 57, was pronounced deceased by the justice of the peace at 10 p.m. An autopsy was ordered by the J.P.

The department received reports of cows being out at 4:50 a.m. on CR 3120, at 6:59 a.m. on CR 3118 and at 3:23 p.m. on CR 4530. At 6:57 a.m., horses were reported out on FM 14.

May 5 - An elderly complainant met with a deputy at approximately 1:26 p.m. in reference to fraud. The complainant’s bank noticed fraudulent activity. A person known by the complainant is said to be the suspect. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

At 12:39 a.m., cows were reported out on Highway 154, as well as at 7:01 a.m. on FM 2088 and at 5 p.m. on 515 West.

May 4 - At 2:16 a.m. a deputy pulled a driver over for running a stop sign on FM 2869. The driver was intoxicated and failed a standardized sobriety test. Nelda Torres, 59, of Hawkins, was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

A deputy spoke with a reporting party about a possible theft. The reporting party sent money to the suspect for investment, and has not been able to contact the suspect since then. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched at approximately 7:11 p.m. to South Main Street in Yantis on a theft call. The reporting party stated that the unidentified suspect stole two small drones. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched at approximately 9:34 p.m. to CR 4249 in Como for a possible disturbance. The reporting parties were held at gunpoint, due to an altercation. Duane Fisher, 72, of Como, was arrested for deadly conduct.

At 3:20 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 852 near CR 4490. At 7:11 a.m. horses were reported out on FM 1643.

May 3 - Deputies were dispatched to PR 8257 in Quitman, at approximately 12:42 p.m. for criminal mischief. The reporting party’s truck had been shot. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Cows were reported out at 5:51 p.m. on CR 1416, at 8:02 p.m. on CR 4549 and at 8:29 pm. on CR 4150.
