Pilots announce results from dinner dance
Kristi Dossett, chairman for the Pilot Club of Mineola’s Valentine Dinner Dance that was held on Feb. 4, stated, “We are very pleased with the success of this year’s fundraiser.”
This year the club “tweaked” several areas of their event. A country store was added and instead of a silent auction, participants bought chances on 10 big ticket items. Among the most popular items were VIP tickets to a Kacey Musgraves concert, won by Shirley Frazier, and two Adirondack chairs, donated by Glen Dossett and the MHS FFA, won by Lucy Anderson. The live auction featured wine baskets and a trip donated by Charles and Linda Fry and a metal sign of a football and state winning Yellowjackets donated by the FFA.
Celebrity waiters were Greg Holland, Stacy Hope, Sharon Jones, Deb Larkin, Darlene Nicholson, Ken Pearce, Tony Pegues, Stephanie Sadler, Tonya Slayton, Lou Steele and Pam Thurman. They raised over $2,600 in tips with Pearce raising the most, which was over $1,000. The Mineola High School Anchor Club raised money to help members attend the district convention through the sale of purses. This fundraiser earned $540 and Mary Lou French won the Coach purse.
Over $9,000 was raised to fund all of the Mineola Pilot Club projects.
