Voters deciding amendments

Wood County voters will help decide the fate of 17 state constitutional amendments, and Hawkins ISD voters will weigh in on a property tax increase in the Tuesday, Nov. 4 general election.

Early voting extends through Friday in the Wood County elections office in Quitman from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Voting day hours are also 7-7, and voting will be held at the various polling locations around the county, but not at the elections office.

Some precincts have been consolidated for this election.

Election Day polling locations are as follows:

Precincts 1-1, 3-1, 4-1, 4-4

Carroll Green Civic Center, 602 McAllister St., Quitman

Precinct 3-2

Holly Lake VFD, 126 PR 7869, Holly Lake Ranch

Precinct 1-2

Yantis Community Center, 101 City Circle, Yantis

Precincts 1-3, 1-4

Harold Simmons Community Center, 5921 FM 779, Golden

Precincts 2-1, 2-2, 2-3

Mineola Civic Center, 1150 N. Newsom St., Mineola

Precinct 3-3

Hawkins Community Center, 301 Lynch St., Hawkins

Precincts 4-2, 4-3

Winnsboro City Auditorium, Hwy. 515 to Wheeler Dr. ,Winnsboro

The Hawkins ISD election proposition is as follows:

THIS IS A PROPERTY TAX INCREASE. Ratifying the ad valorem tax rate for maintenance and operations of $0.6992 per $100 taxable assessed valuation in Hawkins Independent School District for the current year, a rate that will result in an increase of 24.88 percent in maintenance and operations tax revenue for the district for the current year as compared to the preceding year, which is an additional $1,097,426.60.
