Volleyball, football players earn all-state academic team honors
The following student athletes from Mineola High School have been named to the academic all-state teams by the Texas High School Coaches Association.
Volleyball:
Valerie Garcia, 1st Team; Alyssa Lankford, honorable mention; Tahjae Black, honorable mention
Football:
Nathan Rojas, second team; Riley Fowler, second team; Thomas Hooton, honorable mention; Jackson Anderson, honorable mention
To be nominated for academic all-state, a student must be:
- An athlete, student trainer or manager in good standing with the team
- Of good moral character
- A senior
- Have an overall grade point average of 92 or above (including courses from grades 9-11 and courses completed from grade 12). Weighted GPAs accepted.
THSCA recognizes four teams: elite, first team, second team and honorable mention.
