Tournament success
Abigail Clark, left, is an 11 year old Mineola Middle School student and the daughter of Harley and Laura Clark of Mineola. Abigail has been with the Lady Patriots softball team for five years and plays centerfield. The Lady Patriots went 1-2 in pool play and 5-2 in bracket play. Their only two bracket play losses were against Enid (Oklahoma) Select 2k12, the tournament champions. Both games, the quarterfinal and the championship, ended in extra innings and were decided by single run margins of 3-2 and 7-6.
Her stats for the tournament: 13/13 fly balls caught, one double play, 1.000 fielding percentage, game-tying inside the park HR to tie the quarter finals game and send it to extra innings. Her teammate, Cora Jackson of West Rusk, was MVP at the USSSA Southern Nationals softball tournament.
