The Yantis-Lake Fork Lions Club is hosting their 19th annual catfish fry on Saturday, May 11. The event will be held from 4-7 p.m. in Yantis School cafeteria. The event also includes a raffle; the winner will receive a Remington Model 887 Nitro Magnum 12 Gauge pump shotgun. Tickets are $5.00 each. All proceeds raised will go towards the club's scholarship fund and other charitable projects.
On Saturday, May 11th, during Winnsboro's Spring Fest, dogs, cats, pigs, mice, and all other pets, large and small, will be featured in an exhibit of students' paintings and sculptures at the Winnsboro Center for the Arts (WCA). WISD students, as well as home-schooled students, can submit the drawing, painting, or sculpture of their pets by May 6th at their school's office or at Sayadream Studio on the corner of Elm and Market streets in Winnsboro. The artwork will be on display at the WCA beginning on May 8th.
International radio broadcaster, author and prophecy teacher Jimmy DeYoung will be speaking at Hainesville Baptist Church on Sunday May 12th during the 11 a.m. worship service, and on Monday, May 13 - 15 at 6:30 p.m. All are invited to attend. Dedication of the Blue Star Memorial By-Way Marker is scheduled for Saturday, May 25 at 2:00 at the Iris Garden Club Park in Golden. Blue Star Memorials pay tribute to all women and men who have served, are serving and will serve in the future. The ceremony will include music, speakers, representatives from the Armed Forces, flags and spirit. Everyone is invited to attend.
