Deputy Justin Bowring took a report of a dog bite that occurred on CR 1730 in the Yantis area. According to the reporting party, her 15-year-old daughter had been bitten while running down the county road. The bite did not puncture the skin and medical treatment was administered by the girl’s mother. Bowring made contact with the dog’s owners and advised them the dog would not need to be quarantined as the bite did not break the skin. After admitting the dog was not current on its rabies vaccination, the dog’s owner was advised to take the dog to a vet for its shots. This case is closed.

Lt. William Burge was dispatched to an address on FM 1795 in response to a report of criminal mischief. A man reported that his neighbor was on his property in violation of a criminal trespass warning. The complainant had video footage showing his neighbor on the complainant’s property. Burge advised the man to forward a copy of the video and the case was referred to CID for warrant review.

Sgt. Dustin Moffett took a burglary report from a complainant who stated someone had broken into a building on his property on CR 4626 and taken several items without his permission. The missing items

include a chainsaw, some tposts, miscellaneous fencing materials and a number of Hot Wheels cars. The complainant provided information about a possible suspect. This case has been forwarded to an investigator who will attempt to determine if the possible suspect is responsible for the burglary.

Deputy Aaron Warren took a report of criminal mischief from a complainant on CR 3486. An employee of BDG Trees reported that the company’s forestry tractor, also known as a giraffe, had been shot multiple times. The employee also stated this tractor is the same piece of equipment from which a wench had been stolen two weeks earlier. Warren photographed the damage to the equipment which included flat tires, a busted radiator, and a fire extinguisher riddled with bullet holes. The total value of the damage is estimated at $6,300. This case remains under active investigation.

Deputy Aaron Warren was dispatched to a vacant residence on FM 17 in the Alba area for a burglary report. Warren made contact with the complainant who stated the residence was currently unoccupied but she and her husband had been in the process of moving things out of the house to get it ready for a renter.

Warren observed where the suspect had entered through a front window which could not be locked. Several items inside the house were missing and others had been rummaged through. The missing items include a diabetic meter, insulin needles, vitamins, a cowboy hat and a desktop computer. The total value of the missing items is just over $300. One item of evidentiary value was collected at the scene. This case has been forwarded for assignment and investigation.

Deputy Jeremy Ragsdale was dispatched to a residence on CR 1500 in the Alba area in reference to a burglary of a vehicle. The complainant stated a handgun and a large sum of money was missing from his vehicle. The man also reported that a vehicle was missing from the property as well. The vehicle is described as a silver 2006 Dodge flatbed pickup. The complainant also advised the pickup’s clutch is out and driving it required cranking the truck in gear. Information regarding a possible suspect was also provided by the complainant. This case has been forwarded to CID and remains under active investigation.

Sgt. Dustin Moffett obtained an arrest warrant for Christopher Lee Lawson, 29, of Hawkins at the conclusion of an investigation into a case where Lawson was the suspect in the theft of a TroyBilt pressure washer. Lawson is alleged to have taken the power washer from a job site where he was hired to paint inside a building undergoing a remodel on FM 2869. Sgt. Moffett was able to recover the power washer and return it to its rightful owner. Lawson is charged with theft of property $100 or more but less than $750, a Class B misdemeanor. Bond was set at $2,500.
