Bubba Sadler, Gladewater, was the big winner of the Sealey Outdoors Big Bass Classic at Lake Fork over the weekend with a bass weighing 9.48 pounds.

Gladewater man wins Big Bass Splash, Alba angler second

Bubba Sadler, Gladewater, was the big winner of the Sealey Outdoors Big Bass Classic at Lake Fork over the weekend with a bass weighing 9.48 pounds. For his efforts, Sadler took home a 2015 Triton 20TRX powered by Mercury, a Ram truck and $7,000 in cash.

Alba angler Stephen Fatheree caught an 8.84 big bass Saturday morning during the 9 to 10 hour and ended the tournament in second place. Fatheree scored a 2015 triton 19TRX powered by Mercury, a Ram truck and $2,000 in cash.

Winning third place with a catch of 8.76 pounds was James Williams, Jonesboro , Louisiana. He won a 2015 Triton 18TRX powered by Mercury and $1,000 in cash. Fourth place winner of $8,000 cash was Donald Beck, Laurel, Mississippi, with a catch of 8.51 pounds. Fifth place winner taking home $6,000 cash for an 8.05 pound fish was Scott Davis, Bossier City, Louisiana.

Local angler Billy Wayne Smith, Quitman, claimed sixth place overall with a catch of 7.92 pounds during the 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. hour on Saturday.

Local anglers did well throughout the tournament. Those winning cash were: Richard Altman, Yantis, 2.48 pounds; $1,000 for heaviest fish in the 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. hour; Billy Wayne Smith, Quitman, $900 for 7.92 pounds, second heaviest, Saturday 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. hour; Stephan Fatheree, Alba, 8.54 pounds, $1,000 for heaviest fish Saturday 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. hour; Danny Dulde, Quitman,

In the Little Angers division Hayden Marshall, Quitman, caught a 1.10 pound bass Sunday to win first place and a $100 gift Academy gift card. On Saturday Kaleb Woodard, Holly Lake Ranch, caught a 1.23 pound bass, good enough for second place and a $75 gift card to Academy.
