Sue Sullivan, 83, of Mineola died peacefully on May 4, 2020. Sue was born in Camp County on Jan. 2, 1937 to Ellie Mae and Lucian Graves. She was the baby of five and lost her mother at age 9. By 24, she had four children with her first husband, Jimmy Shinn. He tragically passed leaving her to start over.

She then fell in love with her long-time husband, John Sullivan; and they laid roots in Mineola. She quickly became involved in the community. She served as a Pilot Club member, as a board member for child abuse advocacy, became the first lady city councilman, which led to a brief mayoral term after being elected mayor pro tem. She was a loving wife, wonderful mother, even better Nana and great Nana. She loved her family, cooking and being social. She was fiercely loved by many and will be forever missed.

Survivors include her brother, Jesse Graves of Pittsburg; her daughter, Diane Bonner and her husband, Jeff Bonner of Mineola; Denise Todd and her husband TJ of Sanger; grandchildren, Mitzi, Jay, Molly, Benji, Ali, Brooke, Brandi and Mikayla; great-grandchildren, Jake, Audrey, Lilly, McKenzey, Ryder, Brantley, Laramie, Monte, Beckett, Greyson, Payton and Brinlee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellie Mae and Lucian Graves; her sisters, Jennie Ruth Barrett and Mary Francis Black; her husband, Jimmy Shinn; her son, Dennis Shinn; her brother, LC Graves; her husband, John Sullivan; her grandson, Luke Roberson; and her son, Danny Shinn

The family wishes to give special thanks to Heritage Nursing Home for the care given to Sue and Danny up until both their passing. A peaceful death is the greatest gift life can give us. A memorial will be held June 6 at 2 p.m. at Spur On Ministries.
