Posted

Six members of the Mineola High School band have earned places in the all-state band for the Association of Texas Small School Bands.

Try outs were Saturday at Tyler Chapel Hill, and six of the seven band members trying out earned spots, a record for MHS.

Five of the six earned first chair on their respective instruments, and four of the six tried out against students from larger Class 4A schools (Mineola is 3A).

They will participate in clinics and a concert at the annual Texas Music Educators Association conference in San Antonio in February.

Three of the students earned all-state honors for the second time.

Sophomore Emily Miller is making her second trip to state on flute and competed in the 4A contest.

Senior Ali Gonzalez makes her second trip on oboe and earned first chair in the 4A competition.

Senior Ali Jordan earned first chair on trumpet and will make her second trip.

Freshman Anthony Le-Phan won first chair honors on bassoon in the 4A contest.

Senior Riley Woodward earned first chair on tenor sax in the 4A contest.

Senior Maddie Tucker earned first chair on saxophone.
