Sheriff investigating Lake Quitman drowning
The body of a 30 to 40 year old white male was found near one of the swimming areas at Lake Quitman Monday afternoon. The unidentified body was sent for an autopsy.
“All I can tell you is, there was a drowning and it is under investigation right now,” Wood County Sheriff Tom Castloo said. “We sent the body for an autopsy and we are now just waiting on results. That is all I can tell you now until we get the results of the autopsy.”
International ALERT Academy dive team was called in to help search the lake. They posted this on Facebook: “Had an opportunity to serve the Wood County Sheriff’s department looking for evidence at a crime scene. We were able to search a large area for their investigation. In the end we found an item that may prove to be significant.”
The case remains under investigation.
