Rodney “Sarge” Simpson, 1952-2021

Rodney “Sarge” Simpson, 68, of Quitman passed away on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021 in Tyler.

Rodney was born Nov. 19, 1952 in Dallas to Addison Simpson and Elvada Cash Simpson. He was a lifetime resident of the area.

Rodney enlisted in the United States Army on April 21, 1986 and served until May 6, 2008. He was involved with the VFW, DAV and was a lifetime member of the American Legion-Mineola.

He was preceded by his parents; brother, Elton Simpson; and daughter, Crystal Simpson.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Simpson; son, John Simpson of Mesquite; daughters, Rachel Simpson of Mesquite and Aurora Simpson of Mesquite; step-son, Andrew Moore; several grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Rodney was held on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Lowe Funeral Home followed by the service at 2 p.m.

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
