Quitman High School’s Jace Reid has signed with Oklahoma Wesleyan University (OWU) in Bartlesville, Okla. to play basketball at the college level.
Reid will join OWU coach Donnie Bostick’s squad which was on one of the top NAIA men’s basketball teams in the nation. The OWU Eagles were 25-8 when the coronavirus put an end to the season just as the national tournament was set to begin.
Reid had been accepted to Texas A&M University but opted to fulfill his dream of playing college basketball.
Reid is a QHS honor student and was the District 12-A Offensive Player of the Year and a member of the All-Region 2 elite team. He also was named to the Texas High School Coaches Association Academic All State Elite team and the Texas Basketball Coaches Association All-State team.
Reid averaged 24.6 points per game his senior year despite being double-teamed most games. He also hauled in 8.6 rebounds per game, 3.1 assists and 3.2 steals.
