State releases schools’
progress reports
The Texas Education Agency Department of Assessment and Accountability Division of Performance Reporting released preliminary 2016 accountability ratings and all Wood County schools met the state standard.
All the campuses in all school districts, Mineola, Quitman, Hawkins, Winnsboro, Yantis and Alba-Golden, met standards in all of the indexes of student achievement, student progress, performance gaps and readiness.
Mineola Superintendent Kim Tunnell noted that the official results will be published when the Texas Academic Performance Report comes out this fall. The district has received preliminary scores, although some of Mineola’s fifth grade science scores were tied to the middle school instead of the elementary, and is waiting on distinctions to come out in a couple of weeks.
