The public is invited to hear a presentation for Rachel’s Challenge on Wednesday, Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. at the Mineola High School gym.

That presentation will be the third segment of the leadership program, with middle and high school students hearing a presentation at 9:30 a.m., and 100 selected middle and high school students participating in a leadership exercise at 1 p.m.

Rachel’s Challenge was formed to honor the legacy of Rachel Scott, the first victim of the Columbine High School shooting in 1999.

Superintendent Cody Mize said the real payoff for the program will be in the second year when its effectiveness can be evaluated.

The presenter will be Cody Hodges, a former quarterback at Texas Tech.
