Sept. 19

Lt. Mike Chilson received a report of terroristic threat from Quitman Junior High. Assistant Principal Todd Shackelford reported that he was advised by a parent that she had discovered disturbing photos on her son’s phone. The student was identified and his father was made aware of the situation. The man identified the rifle as being his. Two other junior high students were discovered to be involved in the situation. After interviewing those involved, it was determined that the threatening captions were intended as a “joke.” The case has been referred to Juvenile Probation.

Just before 1:30 am Officer Corbin Hanner observed two suspicious vehicles parked in the lot at Brookshire’s. Hanner made contact with the five occupants and noted the smell of an alcoholic beverage. A glass bottle containing alcohol was located underneath the first vehicle. Hanner also observed alcoholic beverages inside the second vehicle. The alcohol was removed from the vehicles and poured out at the scene. A consensual search of the first vehicle produced a small baggy of suspected marijuana which was confiscated. No one in the vehicle admitted ownership of the marijuana so all three occupants were cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and were released. The occupants of the second vehicle were cited for minor in possession of alcoholic beverage and were released.

Sept. 20

Officer Joe Andrade observed a pickup with a defective headlight and initiated a traffic stop. The driver advised he did not have a valid driver’s license nor did he have insurance on the vehicle. While inventorying the vehicle subsequent to it being towed, Andrade found a clear glass pipe with a white substance inside and recognized it as being used to smoke methamphetamine. The driver claimed ownership of the pipe. Joshua Blankenship, 42, of Longview was arrested and charged with driving while license invalid with no insurance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Cpl. Austin Milbourn was notified by a Sonic employee that another employee was causing a disturbance at the business. Milbourn obtained information regarding where to find the man so a criminal trespass warning could be issued.

Lt. John Farmer responded to a report of a possible sexual assault. A woman under hospital care due to her mental status made an outcry of abuse to a nurse. The nurse stated the woman claimed she was staying with friends and those friends had attempted to prostitute her out to multiple men in order to make money to pay bills. She also claimed the male friend had attempted several times to have sex with her. Regarding the sexual assault, the woman could only provide a possible date range that the event took place, but would not confirm details of where or when the possible sexual assault occurred. This case remains under investigation.
