The Quitman Police Department answered 306 calls for service between June 1-27, issued 139 traffic citations, gave 266 traffic warnings, took 24 reports and made four warrant arrests and six on-site arrests. 

June 4

Cpl. Joseph Gatewood made a traffic stop in the 300 block of E. Goode St. with Cpl. Victor Taylor. James Cox arrested for Wood County warrant for bond forfeiture-exploitation of an elderly person. 

June 16

Officer M. Al-Flaih was dispatched to a disturbance in the 400 block of N. Main St. Justiss Davis was arrested for criminal mischief more than $100 and less than $750 after he had been drinking and destroyed a door and other items in the house. Lt. Travis Spurgeon served a second warrant for criminal mischief at another location where he had damaged property.

July 17

Officer Brent Willoughby was dispatched to a disturbance at the UT Health Quitman emergency room. Kristi Cooksey had been screaming, throwing things and disturbing other patients. She advised Willoughby that she was under the influence of narcotics. She was cleared medically and arrested for public intoxication.

June 20

Cpl. Gatewood made a traffic stop in the 200 block of S. Main St. Elizabeth Swallop was arrested for violation of certain court orders or conditions of bond in a family violence case. 

June 25

Cpl. Gatewood made a traffic stop in the 900 block of E. Goode St.  After smelling the strong odor of marijuana, Gatewood detained Ronald Chalk and Charles Williams and found a bag of marihuana on Williams and 53.7 grams of methamphetamine, pills, scales and a handgun in the vehicle. Williams was charged with possession of marihuana in a drug free zone and a Tarrant County warrant for driving while intoxicated 3rd or more. Chalk was charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance penalty group 1, possession of dangerous drugs and unlawful carrying of weapons.
