Quitman Police Report

 The Quitman Police Department answered 226 calls for service from March 1-24, issued 37 traffic citations and 78 traffic warnings, one criminal trespass warning, took 13 reports, made 10 warrant arrest and seven on-site arrests.

March 5

Capt. Clint Perkins received information on an outstanding warrant and arrested Daphney Ellsworth in the 800 block of N. Winnsboro St. for violation of bond conditions for possession of a controlled substance PG 1/1B =>1G<4G.  

March 10

School resource Officer Victor Taylor took a white female juvenile into custody at Quitman Jr. High School for possession of marijuana under 2 oz. in a drug free zone.  The case was turned over to the Wood County Juvenile Probation Department. 

March 12

Officer Joseph Gatewood initiated a traffic stop for a traffic violation at the intersection of S. Hart St. and W. Bermuda St. Lamanda Boyd was arrested for driving while license invalid with a previous conviction suspension for failure to maintain financial responsibility. Boyd was charged with a second charge of failure to maintain financial responsibility 2nd offense. Boyd also had outstanding warrants for failure to maintain financial responsibility and speeding 10% or more above the posted speed limit.

March 17

Officer Joe Andrade initiated a traffic stop in the 200 block of S. Main St. Deloris Belcher had two outstanding warrants out of Henderson for possession of a controlled substance PG 1 <1 gm and abandon endangering a child.

March 18

Officer Andrade initiated a traffic stop in the 400 block of S. Main St. Steven Lee McGuire Jr. had a warrant for criminal trespass out of Tyler Police Department.

March 20

Officer Jesus Sandoval and Lt. Scott Gallimore received information of possible drug activity at the Brookshire’s Grocery Store parking lot, a blue Dodge four-door pickup truck possibly selling drugs. Officers observed the truck leaving the parking lot and made a traffic stop in the 600 block of E. Goode St. Kenzie Dwain Foley gave consent to search his vehicle and narcotics were found with several firearms. Foley was arrested for delivery of marijuana >1/4 oz. <=5 lbs. and unlawfully carrying a weapon.

Officer Gatewood made a traffic stop in the 300 block of S. Main St. Samuel Boyd had an outstanding warrant out of Hopkins County for theft of property >=$750<$2500  and was taken into custody. 

March 21

Officer Sandoval and Lt. Gallimore received call, observed female being assaulted by male on Sissy Spacek Dr. The male was identified as Carlos Villarreal-Hay and while he was detained he ran and Sandoval gave chase. Villarreal-Hay was caught at the Quitman Post Office and arrested for assault family violence and evading arrest/detention.

March 23

Capt. Perkins served two city of Quitman warrants at the Wood County jail where Bryan Lunsford was being held on criminal charges. Lunsford was served warrants for theft of property <$2500 with two or more previous convictions. This came after police took two theft reports where Lunsford went into the True Value Hardware and shoplifted items. 

March 24

Officer Sandoval and Lt.  Gallimore arrested Jason Smith at the Quitman Police Dept. for an outstanding warrant for probation violation out of Alabama with full extradition.
