Farm Bureau presents donation to county fire departments
The Texas Farm Bureau recognized 12 volunteer fire departments across Wood County at their monthly meeting Thursday at Jim Hogg Park Pavilion in Quitman. The fire departments were presented with a $100 donation and a TFB gate sign.
Fire departments in Wood County that were recognized were Quitman, Mineola, Winnsboro, Coke/Pleasant Grove, Hainesville, Perryville, Holly Lake, Ogburn, Yantis, Lands End, Hawkins and Alba.
In 2011, the Texas Farm Bureau conducted an extensive state-wide program to recognize the contributions of local volunteer fire departments. County Farm Bureau leadership in 186 counties organized and participated in various events during this effort.
The Texas Farm Bureau Insurance companies extended the focus of that appreciation to include a complimentary membership, a $100 donation and a metal TFB membership sign. Volunteer fire departments, like County Farm Bureau organizations, are a vital part of communities across the state.
